suggestions: what to watch

Ok. You still need to watch some talk shows. I would suggest the ones that you are currently writing about.

What about a cartoon for next week? You have to watch an episode of The Simpsons. Other suggestions? South Park certainly changed the adult cartoon forever and I know your generation likes The Family Guy (which I find mostly unclever but am willing to try again).

Also: tell me what reality show you suggest we watch. I'm for Kid Nation but there's a new Survivor and who knows what else starting up soon. We'll vote soon so get your suggestions in.

i think its hard to find a television show that will be agreed on unanimously. There are a lot of reality shows out there though. From "meerkat manor" on animal planet, to "ice road truckers" on the history channel, and "the deadliest catch" on the discovery channel. I personally think that south park is the epitome of trash tv but mainly because it can make fun of itself all the while offending every single human being on the planet, all while not getting in trouble with the public because they are using silly little cartoon characters.

South Park, The topics, the humor, the trash. I love South Park. The Simpsons are not are generation they are the trash cartoon of old.

I agree with Michael...South Park would be a good choice; it has many interesting areas that can be looked at and analyzed. I can't think of any shows that are able to be as offensive to race, gender, religion, politics, etc. than South Park. Additionally, the language of the show can be worse than the most explicit Jerry or Maury shows. Just as talk shows have gotten worse and worse, I think the same goes for our cartoons. South Park is twice as dirty and twisted as the Simpsons, and that is what our generation grew up watching.

I like the idea of watching “Kid Nation” for the reality show. It will bring up many issues in the media, if it is run the way we think it is. I think it would be interesting to see how they handle it and make the show seem real because there is absolutely no way that under the laws of the United States that this show could be accomplished without adult supervision. Here is something to get people more interested:

“40 Kids have 40 days to build a brave new world without adults to help or hinder their efforts. Can they do it? These Kids, ages 8-15, will turn a ghost town into their new home. They will cook their own meals, clean their own outhouses, haul their own water and even run their own businesses including the old town saloon (root beer only). Through it all, they'll cope with regular childhood emotions and situations: homesickness, peer pressure and the urge to break every rule they've ever known.
Will they stick it out? In the end, will these Kids prove to everyone, including their parents, they have the vision to build a better world than the pioneers who came before them? And just as importantly, will they come together as a cohesive unit, or will they abandon all responsibility an d succumb to the childhood temptations that lead to round-the-clock chaos? Don't miss this intriguing series.” http://www.cbs.com/primetime/kid_nation/

I think I may have found what may be the trashiest show on television that may be interesting to watch as a class. I didn't catch the name of it but i saw it advertised on MTV the other night. It has the same idea as "Flavor of Love" and "Rock of Love," except with a different twist. The main character is female and looking for "love," but she is bisexual so men AND women live in a house and go on dates with her competing for her "love." Should be interesting...
